Online learning due to Covid19? Just take it positively

July has come, means new academic year nearly starts.

I am always excited welcoming new academic year. I can’t wait to see new faces, new energy and new ambience but not for the new normal.

Online learning is tiring, demanding and challenging. Teaching experience during last term 4 was really ‘remarkable’. I can’t imagine kind of roller coasters will be for 1 semester ahead due to online learning situation.

Previously, extended online learning made me unmotivated till I finally found this letter last night. It’s sent by a student who has health issue that makes him cannot regularly come to school.

Term 1 and 2, he rarely joined the class but he sufficiently could manage himself to catch up the lesson.

Term 3, he hardly never joined my class except day 1 when I asked all my students to write this kind of letter. He entirely missed the lesson this term.

Term 4, when the online learning starts, he regularly joined our online discussion and completed all the assignments properly. This online learning helped him to join the class without literally going to school, to get involve during his recovery period.

It brings me to a deep reflection, to positively enjoy online learning as the best practice for current situation. Regardless all the challenges and difficulties, now I feel bad to not excitedly start this new academic year once I know online learning will help my student who strive for his health condition.

Hopefully, by the time we physically get back to school, his recovery is completely done so he is ready to join us :)
